Dr. Sally Caldwell, renowned Texas State sociology professor, Woodcreek
City Council member and one of the founders of the WimDems, passed away this past Friday. Sally had received a double lung transplant
back in June, and her death was a result of complications related to that
surgery.
Sally Caldwell's impact on local politics, as an experienced and courageous community leader, is impossible to overstate.
Sally was the architect of Wimberley's comprehensive plan and zoning
ordinance. This documents have not only
won national and state planning awards, but have stood the test of time in the
face of sometimes fierce opposition by laissez-faire development interests.
Sally was recently Mayor Pro-Tem
of Woodcreek and THE go-to person on political strategy in Wimberley and
Woodcreek.
Sally's presence in our community is already being missed, one that was both irreplaceable and irrepressible. She will always remain in our hearts.
Sally was the author of Statistics UnPlugged, a college level textbook
responsible for demystifying the field of statistics for students across the
country.
A celebration of Sally Caldwell's life will be held this coming Sunday
February 9 from 2-4 at Blue Hole Regional Park in the Wood Grinstead
Amphitheater.
On Friday, February 21 at 3 pm. Texas State University will host a
Celebration of Life for Sally at Christ Chapel. 510 N Guadalupe in San Marcos.
